The 7th AFOES Congress
Last weekend, NA Bassoons had the honour of taking part in the 7th National Congress of the Association of Bassoonists and Oboists of Spain (AFOES), held at the Escuela Municipal de Música y Danza de Pozuelo de Alarcón. This event brought together more than 300 congress participants, more than 50 artists and nearly 30 exhibitors, consolidating itself as one of the most relevant meetings for woodwind musicians in Spain.
NA BASSOONS and new tools for the bassoon.
Within the programme, Alfonso Fernándezrepresentative of NA Bassoons, gave a lecture-workshop which attracted the attention of teachers and advanced students from music training centres all over the country. The presentation addressed topics such as pedagogical resources and innovative tools to expand the use of the bassoon beyond its traditional classical context, proposing new opportunities for young performers and experienced musicians. In addition, the need to make the bassoon more accessible and attractive to new generations, taking advantage of current technologies and alternative pedagogical methodologies, was discussed.
One of the most exciting moments of the workshop was the closing, when the participants collaboratively created a piece of music together. This exercise aroused great interest among the participants, who were eager to continue, although time did not allow the session to be extended.
At the conclusion of the event, Alfonso Fernández valued the experience very positively, stressing the importance of continuing to work towards total accessibility to the bassoon. We are on the right track, betting on a 360º approach that not only facilitates access to the instrument, but also takes advantage of modern tools to generate interest and keep alive the passion for this wonderful instrument'.
The AFOES Congress ended successfully after intense days of lectures, master classes, recitals and concerts. The organisation, despite the accumulated effort and fatigue, closed the event on a high note after having hosted such an important congress. With its sights already set on its next activities, AFOES reaffirms itself as a key space for the development of bassoonists and oboists in Spain.
NA Bassoons will continue to work with passion and innovation for the bassoonSee you next time!
