We at NA Bassoons are delighted to announce the addition of Niño Ruven as the brand's new artist. His arrival represents an important step in our commitment to innovation, artistic creation and the opening of the bassoon to new languages. Rarely does one find a voice as singular and a proposal as coherent as his.
Niño Ruven (Doña Mencía, 1997) is one of the most singular bassoonists on the international scene. His career, marked by a deep connection with flamenco and an inexhaustible creative restlessness, has transformed the perception of the bassoon in contexts where until now it had no presence.
Far from sticking to the canons of classical sound, Ruven has developed a unique playing technique - together with a process of redesigning the instrument itself - inspired by the sonorities and expressive forms of flamenco. This approach not only redefines the voice of the bassoon, but also turns it into a vehicle for cultural identity and artistic experimentation. His scenic proposal is also distinguished by another unprecedented element: he is the only instrumentalist to combine musical performance with foot-tapping, integrating the percussive sound of flamenco dance in the same performative action.
His music has been present in cycles such as Flamenco Beats o AIE Flamingos en Rutaand at festivals such as Art Sur, Musica no claustro, Flamenco on Fire or the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with orchestras such as the Partiture Philharmonic Orchestra, the Camerata Capricho Español, the Orquesta del Sur de España, the Orquesta Flamenca de Sevilla and the Orquesta Sinfónica Flamenca de España. He has also been invited to share his experience at universities and conservatories throughout Spain and Latin America, and is currently working on his doctoral research.
In recognition of his artistic originality and the impact of his work, last year he was awarded a prize at the Festival de Jóvenes Talentos Musicales de Aledo and has been awarded the Al-Andalus Ateneo Award as Cordobés del Año in Palma del Río. He has also taken his proposal to a wider audience through programmes such as Andalucía on the move, Mumusic for my earstwo, Land of Talent o The Bertín Showwhere he has demonstrated that the bassoon can be a protagonist even in television formats with large audiences.
In this new stage with NA Bassoons, Niño Ruven will premiere the brand's top-of-the-range bassoon in a series of concerts with the Hesperian Symphony Orchestra, which will take place from 7 to 11 May in different Portuguese cities such as Oporto, Águeda, Estoril and Lisbon. After this symphonic tour, he will resume his concert activity with his current show, Inheritance: Resonances of a childhoodez.
We want to celebrate its arrival with all of you. That's why, next 27 June we will organise a very special event in Musikarteour shop in Malaga. Soon we will share with you all the details, but we anticipate that it will be an opportunity to enjoy Niño Ruven's art live and discover more about this new shared stage.
From NA Bassoons, we welcome Niño Ruven with enthusiasm and with the conviction that together we will continue to expand the limits of what is possible for the bassoon.
