Last week, NA Bassoons lived a truly enriching experience after being invited by the Faculty of Music of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. (UNAM) to participate in the III Bassoon Festival FaM-UNAM (3-6 September 2025)**. This important meeting, coordinated by Maribel AlonsoThe aim of the event, which brought together leading national and international bassoonists and educators, was to promote the creation, performance and teaching of the bassoon.
The brand was represented by Alfonso F. Vargaswho, in addition to presenting the philosophy of NA Bassoons, also gave a masterclass focused on technique, creativity and improvisation. The session culminated in a collective loop in which the students actively participated and, together with the public, transformed the experience into a festive and energetic moment in The FAM.
One of the most special moments were the bassoon solos by the participants, demonstrating great talent and spontaneity. The percussionist and composer Lorena Ruiz played a leading role in providing an expressive maracas soloin addition to presenting his own work for **trio with bassoon**, performed with great skill by the bassoonist Francis Joubert.
The Samara QuartetThe group of young bassoonists did an exceptional job during improvisation, maintaining the cohesion of the group with great musicality. They were also in charge of opening the final concert of the festival, leaving an excellent impression on the audience.
The festival featured guest lecturers of great international prestige, such as Amy Harman, Francis Joubert, Nicolasa Kuster, Telma Diaz, Lia Uribe, Leyla Zamora, Fernando Zúñigathe duo Post-Haste Reed Duo y Nanci Belmontamong others, in addition to the more than fifty students who attended the festival. The days included concerts, conferences, reed workshops and ensembles, generating an unparalleled atmosphere of collaboration and enthusiasm.
