Cristina Delgado Silla: Expanding Bassoon Frontiers
Born on 25 September 1996 in Valencia, Cristina Delgado Sillais a bassoonist who explores the limits of the classical musical world, to which her instrument has historically belonged, with an innovative approach. From her beginnings at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Torrent in 2006 to her achievements at the Conservatorio Superior de Música "Joaquín Rodrigo" in Valencia, where she obtained a higher music degree in bassoon performance and a master's degree in music performance and performative research in 2021, Cristina has shown exceptional dedication and passion for her art.
Following in the footsteps of great musicians such as Javier Abad, Cristina has stood out as one of the few bassoonists in Spain to boldly explore jazz and modern music. Her participation in prestigious ensembles such as the Orquesta de Valencia and the Banda Municipal de Barcelona, as well as her presence at festivals such as Ensems and Mostra Sonora in Sueca, are testimony to her versatility and commitment to music.
In addition to her career as a performer, Cristina shares her knowledge and passion as a bassoon teacher in the Professional Conservatory of Music of Carlet and in that of Xàbia, inspiring new generations of musicians.
In the field of research, Cristina is currently studying psychology and has published studies on the use of the bassoon in jazz and eating disorders in musicians.
